Commissioning Project

The Wisconsin Concert Band Association seeks to further Instrumental Music Education through commissioning original band works by notable composers, which are premiered by the WCBA honor bands during our annual conferences.

Following the success of our 2019 commissioning project with Robert Sheldon, we are working with composer and Wisconsin native Erika Svanoe to add another excellent new work to the wind band repertoire.  Tentatively titled Bolerobot, the piece will be based on themes from Maurice Ravel’s famous work Bolero.  The difficulty level is expected to be a Grade 4+.  The premiere performance is planned for our January 2025 concert, performed by the WCBA Intercollegiate Band.

The fee to join the commissioning consortium is $250.  Included in the fee is a copy of the pre-published score and parts, the name of your school or business listed in the score, the name of your school or business listed in the the program at the 2025 WCBA State Conference, and performance rights during a period of exclusivity following the premiere.

Projects of this magnitude are costly, so donations are accepted and deeply appreciated, no matter the amount.  If you cannot join the consortium, we hope you will consider donating instead.
